Meet Jac, the accidental inspiration of our dog gear disguised as our adorable but crazy Labrador Retriever.

Jac has a great enthusiasm for life, and while this is all fun for him, in the past, I’ve suffered many frustrating walks; coming back battered and bruised and feeling completely defeated!

 …..my walks with Jac were sporadic at best. 

 It was FRUSTRATING to…

• perform Jac’s high flying acrobatics that he seemed to enjoy so much!  
• always have to rely on  BIG Dog Back-UP, (my very patient and handsome husband!)
• have walks that made me STRESSED OUT! 

WHO HAD THE “UPPER PAW?”

While these times spent together with our dog should have been picture perfect in the serene and quiet forest setting that was our backyard, we spent most of the time arguing about whose negative energy was affecting his behavior.

Knowing your energy is negative is one thing, changing it is another.  I needed to learn how to put this into practice.  The problem I was having was simply how to do it. 

Jac was stronger than me physically, and now I realized, mentally as well.  He had the “Upper Paw” but, I was up for the challenge and regardless of the sacrifice, I WAS GOING TO BECOME LEADER! 

We found our salvation, and started what I now lovingly refer to as our “intervention” with Clever Canines of Calgary, Alberta.  Going to class was the start of many small miracles that took place over the weeks.  First and most important, I learned not to feel bad about what had happened in the past; that was over.  What I could do was move forward and---fake it until I make it.

A concept that was introduced was tying the leash around my hips and putting Jac  behind me.  This instantly placed me in a leadership position with him, and suddenly I was the one walking Jac, not the other way around.  At that very instant I’m sure I heard angels singing!

This may sound like an overnight success, but that is not the reality.  I work hard on maintaining my confidence and trusting myself and Jac.  This dog gear is designed simply to make it easier for not only me to accomplish this, but for everyone else who may have the problems that I had walking with my dog.
