Meet Jac, the inspiration of our dog gear who also happens to be our adorable and goofy, extremely high energy, Labrador Retriever.

After wondering how I was ever going to be able to walk  Jac, without major damage to myself physically and emotionally I found the answer.

Jac and I attended a training/behaviour class that introduced tying a 6’ leash around your hips and hooking the dog up to the end.  By engaging my core strength (which let’s be clear, I don’t have a six pack) instead of my wimpy arms, I was able to control Jac on our walks.  It was a brilliant idea, and by far the best tool I have ever used.  However, it didn’t function like I wanted.  It loosened up, travelled all around my waist, tripped me on occasion, and the leash length was never right for Jac.

I knew that I wanted other people to experience the freedom and joy of walking easily with their dogs.  And this was when Jac Trac went from an idea to becoming a company. 

Jac Trac’s humble beginnings started in our dining room, where I sewed every leash and collar myself.  When word got out, and business picked up, I was lucky enough to have my mom sew for me until she passed away last year after a second breast cancer diagnosis.

Since then, the popularity of our Jac Trac Hands Free Leash is becoming known all over.  Not only is our unique design and funky colors turning heads, but being the only eco friendly, hemp hands free leash....anywhere....has really gotten us attention.  We have recently made leashes for celebrities, and had our dog gear picked by magazines and blogs as must haves.

Jac Trac is continuing to grow.  We have our own manufacturing facility, and currently contract with stay at home moms, who are wanting to contribute to the family financially.   We keep our company practises as green as possible using as little paper and packaging as possible.  Our dog gear is made with as many environmentally friendly supplies as we can balance but still maintain our quality dog gear.
